I snapped this shot a while taking a stroll along the boardwalk in downtown Austin a while back. There are several places that rent paddle boards and canoes along the lake and you will typically see a lot of them out there. The lake was almost oddly quiet and peaceful this particular night. Few people were out on the water as dusk approached. The last of the sunlight on this cloudless day bathed the city skyline and created a nice silhouette on this lone paddle boarder. As he passed by I saw the shot I wanted slowly come together. I waited patiently for the composition to form while watching for his posture to indicate a gaze toward the city. Quiet, peace, tranquility - things that can elude us sometimes in an ever growing modern city. It's nice to know you can still find it in the heart of Austin.
