It was a Headbanger's Ball at Hanover's in Pflugerville, TX last Saturday. Killa-Maul, a Metallica tribute band, and Mob Rules, a Dio tribute band, blew the roof off with shredding renditions of some classic metal songs. Killa-Maul (that name cracks me up) performed the Kill 'em All album and pulled it off quite nicely, even throwing in Creeping Death to close out the set. Mob Rules was an amazing Dio tribute with dead-on vocals - a fitting tribute to the late Ronnie James Dio. I was missing keyboards parts, especially for Rainbow in the Dark, but apart from the lack of a keyboardist the band did a great job and they all had amazing chops.
