I stopped by the Austin Rodeo Fairgrounds with my friend Andy again this year. I can't resist carnival rides at night. It is great fun to catch the color, lights, and motion in the evening hours. This shot was taken after sunset and there was still a trace of blue left in the sky. Processing Info: - Raw conversion of single exposure with white balance adjustment in Lightroom. - HDR image generated from single raw with Nik HDR Efex and blended in very lightly with the original on a separate layer in Photoshop. - Topaz Labs Detail Feature Enhancement on original layer. - Photoshop Curve for contrast. I stopped by the Austin Rodeo Fairgrounds with my friend Andy again this year. I can't resist carnival rides at night. It is great fun to catch the color, lights, and motion in the evening hours. The vibrant sky of the "blue hour" makes a great backdrop. The blue hour is really only about 15 minutes around here so you have to work fast! I challenged myself on this outing by shooting with my Fuji X100, which has a 35mm equivalent prime lens. The compositions can be challenging but I had a great time with this little camera and the tripod I snuck in. I stopped by the Austin Rodeo Fairgrounds with my friend Andy again this year. I can't resist carnival rides at night. It is great fun to catch the color, lights, and motion in the evening hours. I had to be patient to get this shot, waiting for 4 different rides to all be in motion at once. Working out a composition with my fixed lens X100 was an additional challenge. Processing Info: - Raw conversion of single exposure in Lightroom. - HDR image generated from single raw with Nik HDR Efex and blended in very lightly with the original on a masked layer in Photoshop. - Topaz Labs Detail Feature Enhancement used on original layer. - Masked Photoshop Curves for contrast. - A little repair work in Photoshop to fix a few oddities caused by people walking in front of my lens during the exposure - the nerve! :) Hit 'L' to view it large!
