Carol volunteered to model for me while I did a few lighting experiments. For this shot, I used a heavy backlight. I intended for a lot of the light to wrap around from the back. Yeah, it's called Star Ship but I think my name is more appropriate. I've personally witnessed people getting off rides like this and tossing their corn dogs. I stopped by the Austin Rodeo Fairgrounds with my friend Andy again this year. I can't resist carnival rides at night. It is great fun to catch the color, lights, and motion in the evening hours. I've taken shots of this ride before and it's one of my favorites to photograph. It is actually a kiddy ride with balloon shaped cars that aren't moving as fast as they seem in a long exposure. The rotating and up/down movement creates some great light patterns. Processing Info: - Raw conversion of single exposure with white balance adjustment in Lightroom. - HDR image generated from single raw with Nik HDR Efex and blended in very lightly with the original on a separate layer in Photoshop. - Topaz Labs Adjust Spicify masked in lightly in parts. - Topaz Labs Detail Feature Enhancement on original layer. - Photoshop Curve for contrast. It's Spring in Texas and since we got a little bit of rain, that means the Bluebonnets are popping up for their brief annual appearance. Fields of our state flower are a beautiful sight! Lots of people run out into the fields to take family portraits while the Bluebonnets are blooming. Carol and I had a photo shoot that day and we half jokingly talked about getting some shots in a nearby field. It seems kind of cliché but we couldn't resist!
