Merry Christmas! It hasn't been a great day for me as I've been running a fever all Christmas Day. I think I have bronchitis. In spite of feeling terrible, I had to at least post one image today. It has become sort of a tradition that I go down to the Driskill Hotel to get a shot of their Christmas Tree each year. They have the most beautiful tree in Austin in my opinion. The lobby is a warm and inviting place and guests tend to linger around this tree. It took me probably half an hour to get this shot as I patiently waited for guests to move through. I would have finished sooner had I not discovered that I'd inadvertently left my camera set to low resolution JPGs the last time I used. I needed the dynamic range of raw files so I had to recompose my shot after tearing down my tripod. Hotel staff and security were nice enough to let me get my shot, which involved a tripod in the middle of the main entrance walkway. 3 image capture was merged in Photomatix and further processed in Lightroom and Photoshop CC. I noticed this small motorcycle in east Austin and was drawn to its smooth lines in contrast with the more grungy background. Processed in Lightroom. A broken gate leading to an empty lot with a fallen detour sign. The lines and texture of the gate made me stop to snap a shot of this scene in east Austin. Processed in Lightroom with VSCO, modified TRI-X preset.
