I took this shot earlier this year at the Austin Rodeo. This is kind of a tough ride to photograph, at least in the way I like to capture carnival rides. It's all about light and motion to me. This ride is actually lit rather dimly and you don't get anything out of the cars really after the sun goes down. I had to settle for just a little before sun down so I could preserve detail in the cars. A sunset in the background would have been nice but the orientation of the ride didn't allow for that. The raw image was processed in Lightroom with VSCO Film 04 Velvia simulation. I took this shot earlier this year at the Austin Rodeo. This is the Freak Out ride, which is one of my favorites due to the elaborate light trails it creates. I've photographed it before but always from a profile perspective. It is much more interesting shooting in line with swing of its pendulum arm.
