The hockey season is officially underway in Cedar park. The Texas Stars opened their season last night with a home game against the San Antonio Rampage. It was a fast paced physical game, as to be expected when the I-35 rival visits. The Stars trailed by 2 goals entering the third period and came alive with a series of goals that looked like they could take the game in regulation. A late 3rd period goal by the Rampage with an extra attacker forced overtime. Devin Shore got the win for the Stars with a break away goal in the overtime period.
The first shot is Justin Dowling shaving some ice while swooping in to nab the puck away on a Rampage charge into the Stars' zone. The second shot is a beautiful toe kick save by Stars' goal tender John Muse. You can see the puck on the tip of his pad. It was a fantastic save that kept the Rampage from potentially taking a win in regulation. The third shot is Shore slipping the puck by Pickard in the Rampage net for the win.
